The coat.
Every woman has a coat she bought for a life she didn't have yet.
Too expensive. Too dramatic. Nowhere to wear it.
It hung in the wardrobe like a promise. Every time you opened the door it looked at you as if to say: well?
And then, one ordinary day, the life arrived.
Not all at once. A job. A city. A version of you who walks faster.
You put the coat on without thinking, and it fit in a way it never fit in the shop.
Buy the coat.
Not as a reward. As a rehearsal.
Sometimes the clothes go first, and the life follows them home.
