Somewhere along the way, "toxic" stopped meaning what it used to.
It used to describe real harm — manipulation, control, people who left you smaller than they found you. Now? It's become the go-to label for anyone who simply refuses to be played. Say no to a third date that feels off, and you're "toxic." Stop replying to someone who only shows up when it's convenient for them, and you're "toxic." Walk away from something that doesn't serve you, and somehow, you're the problem. Times have changed. The word got hijacked — twisted into an insult for the very people who finally learned to protect their peace.
So we're taking it back.
Toxique isn't about being difficult. It's about being done. Done shrinking, done explaining yourself, done accepting less just to keep someone comfortable. If having boundaries makes you "toxic" in someone else's eyes, that's not a flaw — that's a standard.
Being called Toxique isn't an insult anymore. It's the new definition of having high standards.
